I read naruto for once a couple years back (about 2 or 3). To me naruto is good till like around the 4th great ninja war. Although I don't hate Kaguya and the Ōtsutsuki clan its like a lot goes out of its way to shoe horn her in. To me almost everything up to Pain was setup and intentional, Madara too? (thinking about it as I type) To me with Nagato's and the akatsuki background in mind it makes sense that they chose their path towards "peace" (an implementation of the MAD doctrine via making a weapon of the tail beasts soooo powerful no one would dare pull the trigger, more here).
Then like Madara wanted to do the forever dream sleep jutsu (infinite tsukuyomi) cause reality is mean and hurtful and disappointing (honestly I forget what he wanted a nigga like him so powerful that its like what you mean you're this strong cause you struggled Tangent (I swear there's so many other anime that hit the same life hard I wanna opt out for dream world note Eva is one)).
Up until Kaguya's appearance there's a theme or battle of ideologies that's taking place in the 4th great ninja war; those for escapism (Madara & Obito) and those against escapism (literally everyone else). Both Madara and Obito desired a world without conflict, one where the tragedies of their respective lives would never play out. This is the theme, this is what Naruto smacked Obito over the head about, Naruto has confronted Nagato and promised to make a better world. He knows their world isn't perfect but he want to fight to make it a better place alongside everyone, Not to just give up and live in some fantasy. Funny thing is (after some revelations) Obito turncoats leaving Madara to continue his campaign on his own. After actually activating (infinite tsukuyomi) he's cast aside for Kaguya.
At this point that theme of escapism is just forgotten, like what were we doing again cause like . . . the plot has been lost. The concept that is Kaguya at this point is fresh having been described in detail by the sage of six paths, prior to that Madara but not completely (He mentions the sage and his triumph over the ten tails unaware that the ten tails of legend was Kaguya). Either way its now Kaguya's time to carry the plot via the shear threat she represents, cause she picking up where Madara left off while leaving his themes behind. Its not about escapism anymore its about her getting back her chakra.
